Fun and Whimsical – Road Runner Sculpture

Road Runner Sculpture

Every once in a while, we need to do some thing for a trade show for Balloons by Absolute Value. Some thing that will create a real buzz through out the trade show.

We didn’t have a theme or an idea even. When strictly by accident a cartoon show came on the TV. “Why not, do a series of animal cartoon characters”, I said.

The process had begun, we zeroed in on four characters. Beep, Beep…………zoom. The Road Runner was the first.

I began with a sketch, then how we would build the frame and finally add the balloons to it. Sounds simple, don’t it.

Remember balloon sculptures are characterization of things. So we had to characterize a cartoon character. We had to exaggerate certain features to make them look fun and whimsical. Not an easy task, by any means.

A couple tries of building the frame……we weren’t off by much from the first try and had to point the feet in a different position, but we were very close. One little tweak, was needed, that was the bill or nose of the Road Runner.

Then my son Joseph took over with creating the balloon look you see here…….. he did an outstanding job. Don’t you think?

Well our cartoon characters were the hit of the trade show and we created the buzz we were hoping for.

So now let us create the buzz for your next trade show.

Another Year in Business

Balloons by Absolute Value started business 21 years ago on August 1st.  It seems just like yesterday when we started. We were going to be a balloon bouquet delivery service, but you, the customer changed the direction of our business. You wanted more.

I want to thank all of you for a couple of things.

First, for being loyal customers and constantly referring Balloons by Absolute Value to your friends, family and business associates……

Another, is constantly challenging us with your requests. This might seem trivial to some of you, but for us it made each day and event a challenge and a new experience.

Over the years, some of my customers and I have become great friends. That is a big bonus for us, true friends are hard to find. Hope you agree !

Twenty (20) years in business in today’s world is a rare thing. In the balloon decorating world, it’s a lifetime and almost unheard of. Kudos to you.

Nothing in life is a sure thing or a lock, but I hope to be running Balloons by Absolute Value into my 70’s. That is four more years till I hit that mile stone…..

Thanks for making the first twenty, GREAT !!!

Idea of the Month – Sports Theme

Basketball Sports Theme

More and more customers like you are looking for a theme for your next event. One of the easiest themes to do is a sports theme.

There are many options you made choose from, latex balloons in various team colors is one. Mylar balloons in the shape of the sport you choose……like the basketball shaped balloons in the picture above.

Team logo balloons are available for most sports, the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, Denver Nuggets and Denver Avalanche all have mylar logo balloons.

Logo mylar balloons for all of the NBA, Major League Baseball, The NFL and NHL are available.

Add some sports cards, peanuts or bubble gum to each table and you have completed the table tops.

Also available for you to think about, are the use of balloon columns and Megaloon balloons to finish the decor…

Idea of the Month – Giant Clouds with Tulle

                      Giant Clouds with Tulle

Did you know that August is the second biggest month for weddings? Well it is, right behind the month of June.

Picking the right wedding decor is not always an easy task. Lots of decisions need to be made; color, style, size and of course budget are just some of them.

You know that old expression, “Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus”. Women generally prefer something soft and frilly and men want something other then that……smiling as I just wrote that.

Giant Clouds with Tulle is a perfect solution to both worlds. The tulle in this decor gives the bride that soft frilly look, while the giant 3 foot balloon satisfies that manly big is better mentality…..still smiling big time.

Seriously, Giant Clouds with Tulle can be placed almost any where at the wedding reception……giving an elegant, yet simple but sophisticated look at the same time.

Along side of the head table, at entrance points, behind the cake table or to frame the dance floor or Dee Jay. The Giant Cloud with Tulle can fill all your needs without breaking the budget.

So call or email me and I will be glad to give you a free consultation on your wedding décor.
