Break Dancer Sculpture

                       Break Dancer Sculpture

One nice thing about being in the balloon decorating business, is no two days or events are exactly alike. Most of the time it is changing the balloon colors or combining things we have done in the past into a new combination.

Then there are the times our customers challenge us with new things to create.

That is the case when a Mitzvah Mom told me her son wanted several “Break Dancer” balloon sculptures. I have seen Break Dancers on the 16th Street Mall and of course on TV and in the movies so I did have some sort of idea what they were to look like.

The Mitzvah Mom was kind enough to email me some pics of Break Dancers and the internet had some images that we could use as guidelines for our interpretation.

I did the initial design for the balloon sculptures and my oldest son Joseph took the design to reality….. balloon sculptures are meant to be characterizations of real things.

When we had finished decorating the Bar Mitzvah and completed the sculptures we had lots of compliments of the finished creations.

This photo is one of the three Break Dancer Sculptures, the other two can be seen on our web site under the tab Sculptures Part I.

Have a theme or idea for an event, call or email us. We will be delighted to work with you.

Cool Venue – Wings Over the Rockies

Gabby Krause Gala – Wings Over the Rockies

The Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum located at the former Lowry Air Force Base, is a very cool place to visit or hold an event….exact address is 7711 E. Academy Blvd.

On display year around are over 4 dozen airplanes from different eras. Gliders to jet powered airplanes are all on display……Space capsules, the new frontier is also there for you to look at.

A well educated and informed staff is there to answer any questions you might have. On certain days you can actually sit and pretend you are the pilot by sitting in the cockpit of selected planes. Call Wings for days and times.

Wings Over the Rockies can hold very large events in the spacious heated hanger. A list of approved vendor is available on request. Free parking is also available.

Sadly, Helium balloons or decor is not allowed, which is the only downside that I know of at the Wings. Alternative air-filled balloons decor is allowed however. The above photo of the Gabby Krause Foundation Gala is just one example of what is allowed. Check out the before and after photos of the Gabby Krause event. It is under the Cool Decor tab.

If you have any questions on what balloon decor is allowed, just email or call me.

The Lighter Side

Every once in a while some of my friends get together and we just talk over a few beverages ……. a few nights ago we came up with some questions that don’t have a right or wrong answer ……

Do you have questions like this, that go unanswered? Email me your questions, maybe someone has the answer to them.

1. Do Lipton Tea employees take coffee breaks?

2. What hair color do they put on the driver’s licenses of bald men?

3. Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

4. Why do they sterilize needles for lethal injections?

5. Why is it considered necessary to nail down the lid
    of a coffin?

6. If you’re sending someone some Styrofoam, what do
    you pack it in?

7. If a cow laughed really hard, would milk come out
    her nose?

Idea of the Month – Hot Air Balloon Centerpieces

 Hot Air Balloon Centerpiece

So often a customer calls me and is looking for a balloon centerpiece that is unique and will occupy a lot of space.

The room they are using is large and has high ceilings and their event will look out of place in such a large room with out a tall centerpiece.

One of the solutions is the Hot Air Balloon Centerpiece. The balloon itself is 3 feet around and then you surround the balloon with a special netting and then adjust to the desired height. Voila problem solved.

For me I like things that are asymmetrical, meaning the balloons are set at different heights. The more color the better, varying the height of the centerpieces will give the illusion of a true Hot Air Balloon Festival.
