Let it snow…..let it snow……let it snow

Snowflake Balloon Sculpture

The first taste of old man winter has finally hit the Denver Metro area. Not to much snow this time, but it sure is cold. Real winter is soon to follow and lots of snow for sure.

Which reminds me of a ski convention that Balloons by Absolute Value did not too long ago at the convention center in Downtown Denver.

Anyone who has attended the convention center for an event knows the ceilings are extremely high and the room is super sized.

Our task was to make the room more friendly and not look like a big barn. Balloons by Absolute Value provided snowflake balloon sculptures to be hung from the ceilings. Not small flakes, but very large ones.

The picture above shows a 24 foot by 24 foot snowflake, just 1 of the 24 snowflakes provided by Balloons by Absolute Value. Which was pure eye candy for our client and those attending the convention.

Now that’s one snowflake I would hate to catch on my tongue…….smiling big time now.

The Grand Party

Balloon Icicles – Keystone Resort

Wow, that was the heard over and over again when Balloons by Absolute Value decorated this event.

Balloon Icicles hanging from the ceiling was a major visual for all the guests who attended this event held at the Keystone Resort.

We had only finished half of the room when our client walked in and said “Oh, My God” they are absolutely perfect for my event……..

When we were finished she walked in with her boss and he couldn’t believe it……Just shaking his head and saying “these are totally awesome”. Repeating it a lot of times, still shaking his head with approval.

He then walked around the room giving my crew high fives and telling them there would be something extra in their paychecks for this………and there was a nice bonus for all of us.

So now, think outside of the box for your next holiday party and get the same reaction my client in Keystone did..

The Lighter Side

Those who know me well, my friends, share their word jokes with me by email…….. This month I want to share a couple of them with you…….. Enjoy !

1. Did you hear about the Italian chief who died?

2. What kind of nails to carpenters hate to hit?

3. What do you call a bear with no teeth?

4. Why was the Rockies baseball game so hot?

The answers to these jokes follow the next article.

With a Little Help From My Friends

I love music and attend a lot of concerts. Music is always playing in my house, my car or van and on the job……… There are certain tunes that I can’t get out of my head.

One of my favorite songs is “With a Little Help From My Friends”, not the Beatles version but the one by Joe Cocker.

Over the years I have been blessed with great friends, some over 30 years and others a shorter time. Each has been there for me and I have been there for them. I am sure you know what I am talking about.

Through out my business life I have always tried to treat my suppliers and clients or customers not as just a number but as a new friend. It is so much easier when you’re working with friends, right !

Balloon decor is a personal thing………… should fit the personality of who I am going to work with or for…… as I see it friends should know the little things about each other.

I always want to know more about them, sometimes the questions I asked might seem strange but it really helps me find out what their personalities are like.

When I am doing an event, it is personal and should be designed to fit my new friend to a “T”. I want them to walk into the room and have them say “WOW, this is just perfect”.

Friendship is a two way street, while I truly enjoy making people happy campers. They also make me a happy camper by passing my name around to their friends…….

One of my Mitzvah Mom’s years ago told me she passes my name around like cracker jacks……. that phrase still brings a smile to my face.

My new friends also challenge me and my crew to create new and different designs………keeping my work fresh. I thank them for that.

Friendship is not limited to my customers or clients……my suppliers who I have done business with for lots of years have helped make my business what it is today.

Thanks to Jack, Mike and Imogene, Albert and Neil, Bill, Paul and Lex……..without you, I would have been out of business long ago.

Now, you know why the song “With a Little Help From My Friends” means so much to me and I can never get it out of my head……..
