Roxsbourgh Community Village Park
Have you every met a person in your life that touched your very soul? I did last month and her name is Jessica Jorgensen.
Now Jessica is not a famous celebrity , a sports figure, Priest, Rabbi, Minister, state or national political figure. She is however one of the coolest ladies I have ever met.
You might be asking yourself what makes this lady so special. Jessica is a mother, a wife, a good neighbor and part of a pretty awesome family. She is a lady that you would see in your local store and not give a second thought. Oops that’s not true…….she is a pretty good looking lady.
The funny thing how we got to meet. She happen to call a friendly competitor of mine looking for a balloon release. My competitor, Amy happened to be busy the time Jessica needed the balloons to be released.
Amy called me and asked if I was busy and I told her I would be happy to talk with her prospective client. Amy called Jessica and Jessica called me the next day. By the way Amy and I will refer clients to each other if we are busy.
Jessica explained that she needed a lot of balloons released for a dedication of park equipment. She told me the date and time she needed the balloons, I said that was “no problem”…. then the waterfall of tears began flowing on her end of the phone.
Over the years I have seen smiles, heard laugher, giggles, chuckles but I have never heard a person cry as loud as Jessica did when I said “yes, we can do the balloon release”.
After calming her down with my repeated dumb jokes at rapid fire, she explained why the balloon release was so important to her.
Jessica and Monty, her husband, created a beautiful son named Ryker. Ryker died suddenly and unexpectedly from a strange virus that happened to get in to Ryker’s blood stream.
Ironically we all are exposed to the same virus, but not in our blood stream.
We all take the lost of a loved one differently, but the passing of Ryker brought out the great passion and compassion Jessica always had…… An Aura if you will surrounds her.
There is no real good time to die and parents should never bury their children but Jessica and Monty decided to remember Ryker in a unique way.
Donate a piece of playground equipment in their local community park. A place the family spent many hours. But donating a piece of equipment wasn’t as easy as Jessica thought.
Lots of red tape had to be cut through…believe it or not ……this was the first time a family dedicated playground equipment in their neighborhood.
Jessica, Monty and her sister Liberty were not to be discouraged. Family and friends help make this dream a reality.
I knew this could be a tear jerker event for me. It helped a little that I had to be a mountain goat climbing up and down a very step hill to deliver the balloons. The burning in my thighs relieved the tears from my eyes. Funny but true.
While taking a breather I watched this wonderful women meet and greet friends, neighbors and family. The turnout was outstanding. Each person received that special hug, you know the kind I am talking about…….one filled with love.
I knew that I was in the presents of greatness….. Thanks Jessica for letting me a part of this event.
Ps. I want to share with you why balloons were so important to this ceremony….. Jessica wrote me this….
“Why balloons are so special to us.. it was the first time we’d ever heard baby Ryker giggle. We were in Babies R Us and a balloon drifted into my husband’s head and he swatted it away and out squeaked the first giggle he ever had. Ryker Kincaid Jorgensen ……… Absolutely loved balloons !!!”
Some day folks I hope you all have a chance to meet Jessica……a very special lady…..
