Idea of the Month: Plan, Listen, Adapt

Lisette Lederman Bat Mitzvah / Marriott Lone Tree

Today I will tell you a short story on how to plan, listen and adapt. These are keys to a successful event.

Those who know me well, know that I like certain things in my life and decor. Bold, bright, colorful, asymmetrical, fun, whimsical, elegant and clean lines.

When I meet with a new client, I listen to what they want and try to incorporate my likes into their decor. Usually most people like the same things, except they like symmetrical over asymmetrical.

I met a really nice lady named Lisette Lederman, who was planning her daughters Bat Mitzvah. I have to tell ya I was fairly honest almost to the point of being brutally honest with Lisette as she told me her ideas.

She was a real trooper and listened to my ideas….. I want always the very best for events that I am involved with. She could tell that I really cared that it was to be so special for her. She took a bunch of notes to follow up with.

After many hours of meetings on the phone and in person we came up with a great plan……Have to tell you Lisette, put forth a lot of effort in making this event a classy, fun event.

Her theme was travel, in particular to places that they had been or dreamed of going. So we used 3 foot giant balloons that were imprinted like a globe. We attached the globe balloons to her centerpieces from around the world that Lisettte shopped for.

The theme and balloons matched perfectly….. Interestingly we had a classy, elegant, bold, bright, colorful and symmetrical event, but not surprising are plan worked beautifully.

Her guests had a magical night and I swear Lisette’s was the happiest camper I have seen in a very long time. Big high five to you Lisette.

So my idea of the month is to keep an open mind while listening. Don’t be afraid to adjust or adapt your plan. Then make your plan work. Call us, we will be all to happy to listen and help you make your plans come to life.

Spotlight on Millennium Harvest House

Millennium Harvest House – Cinco De Mile Race

I wish I had my blog up sooner to tell ya all about a neat event organized by the Millennium Harvest House in Boulder held on May 5th.

It was the Cinco De Mile Fun Run, you had the option of running a 1 mile or a 5k race. Either way that is a long run for this old guy. A fun run, a celebration and for a great cause to help out Beyond Limits, to cool.

Cinco de Mayo is a celebration to commemorate the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

The Millennium Harvest House partnered with the Beyond Limits Program which helps 60-70 athletes with physical and developmental difficulties train for and participate in races each year.

This is such a worthy cause…… thanks Millennium Harvest House for being a good neighbor.

It was a pretty good deal for the registration fee, your donation got you a race Tech Shirt, a Suerte Margarita and of course a donation to Beyond Limits. Such a deal.

I will keep you informed if they are going to do this again next year……. Balloons by Absolute Value did the balloon arch.

Spotlight on Colorado Academy

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESColorado Academy Carnival

The month of May, Balloons by Absolute Value is extremely busy with graduations, proms, after proms, Mitzvah’s, charity races and continuation exercises to mention just a few.

So when several members from Colorado Academy called to talk about a fun raiser for the school… I was pleasantly surprised.

The main area of the carnival was to be held in the gym. Carnival skill games, food, beverages, photo booth were placed on the three sides of the gym.

A Deejay and stage were on the fourth. The center section was for tall high boy tables. A real carnival tent atmosphere was created with red and white fabic being draped from the center to the edges….. A totally awesome look.

We provided the topiary centerpieces for the high boys and various balloon columns to be place at various locations through out.

Needless to say, Colorado Academy had a very successful event and we were proud to be a part of it. So give us a jingle when you’re planning your carnival…
